Wrotebook

AI memoir writer

Write a memoir with AI

Wrotebook writes a complete memoir from your memories. Describe the story in a sentence, add whatever you have (notes, letters, old journal entries, a voice memo transcript), and it plans the whole book before writing: the years it covers, how it handles truth, and what stays private. Then it writes chapter by chapter while you read along and correct it.

§ I · THE PLAN

What Wrotebook plans before it writes your memoir

Time and shape

Which years the book covers, and whether it moves in order, by theme, or by association. A memoir of one year and a memoir of a life are built differently.

How truth is handled

Whether dialogue is reconstructed, timelines compressed, or people combined, and what the book admits about the gaps in memory. Decided up front, so the book is honest about it.

What stays private

Where the book takes emotional risk and where restraint serves it better. Every chapter is planned against those limits.

§ II · HOW IT WORKSFour steps

How to write a memoir with Wrotebook

  1. 01

    Tell it the story

One sentence is enough to start: "the year I sold everything and moved onto a canal boat". The more you add, the more the book sounds like your life rather than a life.

  2. 02

    Add your material

Paste notes or upload documents (PDF, Word, text): memories written down, letters, emails, transcripts of you talking. Wrotebook builds the book from them.

  3. 03

Read the plan, then the chapters

Check the blueprint before any prose is written. Then read each chapter as it lands and steer between them: more about your father, less about the job, slow down here.

  4. 04

    Keep it

Download the book as an EPUB or Word document. It's private unless you choose to publish it.

§ III · TIPS

Getting a good memoir

  • Give it specifics. A smell, a song, the name of a street. Sensory details from your own memory are what make a chapter feel lived in.

  • Say what it meant, not just what happened. Memoir is the narrated you and the you looking back; tell it what you understand now that you didn't then.

  • Talk instead of typing. A transcript of you telling the story out loud is often the richest source material you can give it.

  • Start short. The default book is a one-to-two-hour read: long enough for a real story, short enough that you (and your family) will finish it.

§ IV · HONESTLY

Know before you start

  • Wrotebook writes from what you tell it. Where you leave gaps, it can fill them with plausible detail that didn't happen, so read every chapter as the person who was there and correct it.

  • Writing about real people carries real risk. Check facts, privacy and anything that could hurt someone before you share or publish.

§ VI · QUESTIONS

The ones we actually get asked.

Yes, with your memories as the source. Wrotebook plans and writes the whole book from what you give it, but only you know what happened, so you read each chapter, correct it, and steer the next one. The more of your own material you add, the more the book is truly yours.
